Life As I Know It

must change. During hurricane Irma I decided to evacuate. I left my home without boarding up every window. I just left. I took what personal items I thought I could not live without. Items that had sentimental value and a few things that I just didn't want to have to replace. And I JUST LEFT. Knowing that it was possible that there would be nothing here when I returned. Leaving those things behind was oddly liberating. And even though the only damage to personal property that affected me was a leaning section of fence, I have been deeply affected by the events of the past week or so. I simply cannot continue my life as it is now. I'm happier than I've been in a long while, but sad at the same time. So, I'm making some changes. Changes in every area of my life. Some little changes and some big changes. I don't know how long this will take or exactly what all the changes will be. I just know they have to be made. Not sure when I'll update again.

New 101 Things in 1001 Days

My new 101 Things in 1001 Days is here. I'll be updating there too. Not enough time to do individual posts like I used to do. I'm still adding things to the list too. I should have it completed in a couple of days.

The mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The criteria: Tasks must be specific with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching. (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

WOW.

Just. WOW. It has been almost a year since I've blogged. OMgoodness. Sooooo much has happened. I don't even know where to start. Name change. Working my Scentsy business more seriously. Last week started moving towards Weight Watchers lifetime. Got a 2017 Kia Sorento, I named Fred. Divorce. Preparing to move out of Florida in a couple of months. Worked a couple of temporary jobs since I retired. I feel like I'm having to start over with everything, but it's a GOOD feeling.

My Heart

breaks for: the victims and families of those young men and women who were killed at Pulse in Orlando. Too many deaths, too much hate. Where does someone learn to hate that much? and why do they think they have the right to murder someone because that person isn't living his/her life the way someone else thinks they should be living it?

My hubby, who isn't really mechanically inclined looked at my sewing machine over the weekend and was able to get it to work. He did whatever he did, plugged it back in and it is now working. So, I sewed in the sleeves and the side seams of the kimono I had been working on when it broke. Then I tried it on. What a disaster! I learned the kimono style is not for me. It was not flattering at all!

I am on a quest to find a tee shirt or a tee shirt pattern. (Maybe I should call it a knit top instead.) I have a specific style in mind. A boat neck, slightly fitted, a slight high low shirttail hem. And I want it to be black. I've found several tops and patterns that have come close. I'm leaning toward HP 1133 Plain & Simple Fitted T Redux by HotPatterns. It doesn't have the hemline I want but that is easily remedied.

Discovery channel's shark week starts on June 26th. You still have time to order Stevie the Shark to keep you company while you watch! He is just so cute!

I've already ordered mine!

OK.....I started sewing

the kimono I mentioned in my last post. When I started to sew the second sleeve, my machine, made a clicking noise and now won't sew. I'm not able to take it to be fixed as I don't have a "full-time income" and don't want to spend the money right now. So, all the sewing plans I had will have to wait a while. :(
I'm no longer working at the geriatric and rehab facility (commonly known as a nursing home) I was working at. The stress was making me physically ill. Hypertension, unable to sleep, GI issues etc.....I just couldn't continue on that path. Small rant here! About a year ago, new management came to the facility, promising there would be positive changes in the workplace. It didn't happen, in fact things had gotten worse over the course of the year. So, one day in April, I decided to give notice and leave all that behind.

On a happier note, I am now an independent Scentsy consultant! If you aren't familiar with Scentsy, it's wickless candle bars and electric warmers. The electric warmers use a low-watt bulb to warm the specially formulated wax. No flames, no smoke and soot free. You simply break off 1-2 cubes from your Scentsy bar and place them in the warmer. Wait a few minutes and your room starts to smell wonderful!

Every month Scentsy introduces a new warmer and a new scent of the month. June's warmer is a beautiful opaque, white "mason jar" type warmer, with a summer fireworks scene. It has small openings that the light from the bulb shines through. You can see it here. I love to use it as a night light. The scent this month is Blue Raspberry Ice. OMGee! It's awesome! It smells like those bomb pops we used to get from the ice-cream man when we were kids. It has sweet cherry, icy white lemon and blue raspberry. It also comes in a scent circle and room spray. If you would like to have an online party and get free and half off items, email me, I will answer any questions, and set it up!

I'm also going to be selling Stella & Dot! I can be found here. This company has some awesome jewelry! I love that Stella & Dot has jewelry that can be worn multiple ways. My favorites (today) are the Freya Fringe necklace and the Sutton. To me, they are both statement necklaces! Be sure and watch the videos that show the different ways these beautiful necklaces can be worn. Currently, Stella & Dot are offering Dot dollars. For every $50 you spend from May 16, 2016 through June 17, 2016 you earn $25 Dot Dollars! If you want more information email me!

I'll be posting more about both these companies in the near future. In the mean time, check them out! You won't be sorry!

Holy Cow!!!

It's been over a year since I've blogged! What have I been doing? Life. Just life. I always think I will blog regularly, but something always seemed to get in the way. When something happened, I would think I should blog about it, but just never did. In the future, I will try to blog once a month, and if I can do more then I will.

I bought a pattern for a kimono and will try to get it made this weekend and post about it next week.

Okay. This is a start!

I 've been working

on my list of 101 things. I've completed # 50, 101 things that bring me joy. Seen Here. The list could be longer and it most likely will be changing, but for now it is complete. Check one item off the list. # 97. I have Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance on Scrib'd on my celphone and have started reading it. I've completed some steps on the other things, but not enough to mention here. I'll post on those when I'm closer to completing them. Got to choose my Pinterest item for this month, I don't have much time to complete it. Not sure what to do, maybe make a recipe. I need to try some of the vegetarian recipes I've pinned.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas, but there doesn't seem to be enough time and energy to get everything done I want to do. I'm starting to miss my son and Mom and Dad more than usual. It doesn't get any easier with time either, in fact I think it's getting harder. Christmas was my Mom's favorite holiday and she LOVED decorating the house for it. I just don't know....(shaking head)

Well, off to get things ready for work tomorrow. I'm manager on duty so that means I go in and stay later. Still, I don't like to wait til the morning of, to get things ready.

Once again......

101 Things in 100 days. I haven't thought about my list in quite some time. The time will end for this list sometime in November, so I need to really get to work doing some of the things on my list. I already know I'm going to have to edit it again. Some things I just am no longer physically capable of doing, due to continuing issues with my back. But, I'll do what I can manage to get done in the little time I have left.

I subscribed to Scribd. It's like Netflix for books. I've found several books that was on my wish list on Amazon so, for 8.99 a month I'm thinking in the long run it will be a little cheaper that buying the books. I can use it on my phone too.

And speaking of phones, I got a Galaxy S5 a few weeks ago. I really like it. It's taken me a while to get used to it. I've had an iphone since 2009 and LOVED it. I just wish the screen was a bit bigger. Maybe next year when I upgrade Apple will have taken Samsung's lead and made the iphone bigger. Of course, by then I might not want to switch! LOL

I can't begin to express how stressful the past five months at work have been at the nursing home I work at. I mean, to the point my blood pressure has been up and I have had chest pains. Fortunately, we have a new administrator and he is taking care of business. A new DON and almost all the nurses are newly hired, along with quite a few CNAs. I no longer dread getting up and going to work in the mornings.

So, I'm off to get things ready for work tomorrow, check on my 101 Things list and peruse Scribd some more.

First post

of 2014. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. I hope to get back to blogging regularly this year. No resolutions. I have a few goals I'd like to achieve. More on them later.

Every blogger and their brother/sister is blogging about: Radiant Orchid (Pantone 2014 Color of the Year)

I personally love this color. It is one of my favorites. I'll definitely be making clothes and accessories from fabrics in this beautiful color! In fact I like all of the colors for this year. I would use sand, freesia and celosia orange as accent pieces, or maybe on the lower part of my body. Browns, yellows and oranges aren't my most flattering shades. I need to re-haul my entire wardrobe this year, especially since I've lost almost 50 pounds on Weight Watchers.

I'm no longer even going to

pretend like I'm going to be blogging regularly. LOL Every time I say I will, something happens and the next thing I know it's a month (or more) later. Things at work have been rather chaotic. Everyone is trying to adapt to the changes in their own way. Some aren't dealing with the change in a positive light, and are rather, how shall I say this? bitchy......YES, that is exactly how to describe it. I'm just hoping that things will get better soon. We've been told that more changes are coming. LOL at least we have been served notice.

In the evenings I like to spend some time on the computer, while listening to ID. I particularly like Swamp Murders and Southern Fried Homicide. (I think I just like listening to the "southern" accents of the hosts.) Over and over again I am shocked at the violence that has been perpetrated against the victims. The pain that was inflicted against the victims and, the pain the families endure from their loss, and going through life without their loved ones.

I'm still attending Weight Watchers meetings every Saturday morning. I'm down approximately 23 pounds. Hubby and I still have Weight Watcher Wednesday, where we try a new Weight Watcher recipe. Many of those recipes have been put into the menu rotation. We've had tilapia tacos, sausage with summer veggie skillet, lemon pasta, and the latest dinner was Gruyere grilled cheese sandwich with arugula salad. This is one of my absolute favorites. In the past, I haven't had much luck with Weight Watchers recipes. Most of the just didn't appeal to me. Somewhere along the way I acquired Weight Watchers - Four Ingredient, 10 Minute Recipes Magazine. They nailed it with this book. I have really liked every recipe I have tried so far, and there are a lot more I want to try. I'm really enjoying cooking again. Still don't like the clean-up though. LOL

Making progress

I just LOVE Pinterest and one of the items on my 101 Things list, is to do something I've pinned on Pinterest. Due to DH being ill last year, I missed several months. In fact, I missed almost a year. When I WAS working on my list, some months I did more than one thing. Now that I'm getting back on track I'll probably continue to do more than one thing. You can see my lists on this site posted in Feb. 2013. I'm slowly getting things done when I have the energy.

Ya'll know I love make-up and nail polish. pretty much all things girly. LOL. I've been buying quite a bit of make-up lately, so for the month of May I'm going on a self-imposed moratorium on buying any make-up. That includes nail polishes. Which I also love. My latest acquisition is Bikini so Teeny by Essie. It's currently sold out on the site, but is available in brick and mortar stores. I got mine at a local Walgreens. It's a beautiful cornflower blue. OH. my. goodness. is it a gorgeous shade of blue!

Okay. So. Holy Crap. I just tried to go to Webshots. And it isn't there. I suppose at some point I was sent an email, saying it was going away, but I don't read emails much anymore. Maybe I should. LOL. Now, I've got to try to remember what was there and find all the pictures I had on there. I think I was a paying member, I can't remember. Auto-payment maybe? hmmmmmmm I'm off to check out the new site, I'm sure (I hope!) they didn't just delete all the photos.
