Aroma Therapy Project

I had promised in an earlier post to show my aroma therapy project for the esthetician class. The items smelled wonderful if I do say so myself. There were three different aromas, each having one essential oil in common. I especially liked the cinnamon bath salts. As I left the open project in the living room,it smelled of cinnamon and was a nice touch for Christmas. I just finished using up the scrub a week or so ago. I considered making another batch of it, but decided I would use a lemon scented scrub I made. If you don't already, consider using a body scrub. exfoliating the old dead skin cells will leave you with a fresher appearance and your skin glowing, and your moisturizing creams and lotions will absorb better too.

I'll post pictures of my nail art project in a few days.

We're for Dogs

We're for dogs. Some people are for the whales. Some are for the trees. We're for dogs. The big ones and the little ones. The guardians and the comedians. The pure breeds and the mutts. We're for walks, runs, and romps. Digging, scratching, sniffing, and fetching. We're for dog parks, dog doors, and dog days. And if there were an international holiday for dogs, on which all dogs were universally recognized for their contribution to the quality of life on earth, we'd be for that too. Because we're for dogs/ And we've spent over sixty years working to make them as happy as they've made us.

The above quote came directly from the case of Pedigree dog food. It pretty sums up how I feel about dogs. My boys are as much a part of my family as any human member is, and they bring me a lot more happiness than most of the humans.

Tiger Woods. He had an accident, no one was hurt. Why is the media still hounding this man? So what if he had an affair? Is it any of our business? I think not. I think it is between him and his wife. So, why is it being discussed so much?

Today I worked on my project for the aroma therapy class. I'm making an air freshener, a body scrub, and bath salts. It's going to be in a Christmas themed basket. I had a hard time finding a basket. The only reason I chose this one is because it's the closest to the size I wanted. I had a hard time trying to get colors, scents, and a theme for this project. I hope to have it finished to take to school on Monday. I'll post pics later.

I'm loving the gathered scarf I started yesterday. I hope I can get it finished by the end of the year. I want to get the cardi-wrap finished ASAP also. I need to find an easier way to keep count of the number of loops on the hairpin tool. I need app 1000 loops for the longest strip. The others are smaller. I think I have about 800. I'll try to work on it over the weekend.

Shopping!!!

I went shopping this morning. I LOVE shopping! I had to get some electrodes for my TENS unit. Got an ink cartridge for my Dell printer and went to Barnes & Noble. I couldn't find the book I was looking for so I went to Borders where I did find the book. Organic Body Care Recipes. We studied aroma therapy earlier week in class. I was already familiar with it, but this class helped expand my knowledge. We are also required to make three items and display them in a basket for a project. I started making mental notes as to the colors, scents, and items I wanted to put in my basket. One of the scents I want to use is lemon. It smells so fresh. I am thinking I will use the colors purple and white. I want to make a small purple eye pillow. Among the other things I'm considering is an eye cream, bath salts, bath bombs, and soap. I may change my mind after I read through the book I got today and my text book, The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy.

I went to Weight Watchers today, I'm down half a pound. I'm not disappointed with the small loss, any loss at all is better than staying the same or gaining.

I have two sewing WIP (works in progress). They have been lingering on my sewing table for over a year. I love sewing, but just don't do it as much as I used to. I love doing other things too. I read other sewist's blogs and admire all the projects they sew. I'm ok with the fact that I'm not a prolific sewist. There is a cardi-wrap sew-a-long on Pattern Review. I've had a McCall's cardi-wrap on my WIP list for several months. I have the material and the pattern, but haven't actually cut it out. I'm going to see if I have enough material to make Simplicity 2603 instead.

The Biggest Loser starts the new season on Tuesday. The previews are showing one of the "losers" from last season coming back. He was one of my favorites and I was disappointed when he was voted off the ranch. He was working so hard to lose the weight and get healthy. I'm so glad he's getting a second chance.
